Hannover, the city of the EXPO 2000, is the capital of Niedersachsen, one of the sixteen Federal States of Germany. Germany itself is located in central Europe.
If you come to the CGI '98, why not stay some more days to
explore the city? There are many points of interest in Hannover,
the famous Herrenhäuser Gärten, the Aegidienkirche,
the old city hall and last but not least the Welfenschloß (today
the university), just to name a few. For further information see
Hannover Online.
Hannover has one of the most modern international
airports
in Europe. The host of the CGI '98 can be reached by direct flight
connections or via the
international
airport of Frankfurt. Since Hannover is an important railroad
junction in Germany, you can easily reach us by
train.
Once you have made it to Hannover, you can use the
üstra (public transport) for comfortable transport within
the city.
Arrival at Hannover Airport
In case your plane will arrive at another airport (e.g. Frankfurt), we
recommend to take the high speed train ICE to Hannover central station. Please
see your local travel agent for the best connections.
Arrival at Hannover Central Station
Travelling by Car
Please notice:
If you want your congress ticket (for free usage of public transport)
to be deposited either at left-luggage office (airport) or at the
Service Point (central station), please send us an
email
with your time and location of arrival. Otherwise the congress ticket will
be included in your conference documents.
Important AddressesTravelling
For your information we can provide you with a map of the

After your arrival at Hannover airport, you may take a taxi to your
hotel. The fee for the transfer should be about DM 45.00 to Maritim
Grand Hotel and DM 35.00 to Hotel Herrenhausen. Another possibility is
to use the bus (line 60, departs every 30 minutes) from the airport
to the central station. You will be supplied with a so-called
congress ticket which allows you free ride during your
stay. The congress ticket may be deposited for you at the left luggage
office of the airport. Please contact the CGI conference office if we should
deposit the ticket for you.
If you plan to travel by train, the congress ticket may be deposited at
the Service Point of Hannover central station. Please contact the
conference office so that we can deposit the ticket for you. If you stay
at Maritim Grand Hotel we recommend you to take a taxi (about DM 18.00).
The taxi transfer to Hotel Herrenhausen will cost about DM 25.00. To reach
Hotel Herrenhausen by public transport, take the subway lines 3 or 7
heading to Mühlenberg or line 9 to Empelde. Change lines at Kröpcke
(next station), use line 4 to Garbsen or line 5 to Stöcken. Leave
the light rail after eight stations at Münterstraße, where you
will find the Hotel Herrenhausen opposite the station.
If you travel by car, exit the highway A2 in Hannover-Herrenhausen
and drive on B6 towards the city. For the Hotel
Herrenhausen, you exit B6 in Herrenhausen. For the Maritim Grand Hotel,
you need to drive on B6, crossing Schwanenbergkreisel onto
Bremer Damm, Brühlstraße and Friedrichswall.
